Yesterday, 3 car fulls of us went to Lake Muhazi for the day. It was fabulous to get out of Kigali for the day and spend the day chilling with friends, swimming, eating, reading, volleyballing...generally a fabulous day with great people.
We had our Good Friday service at CCR. Surprisingly, I have never been to a church service on Good Friday, and I am so glad I have now. I always find that the danger is that easter kind of get forgotten. There is so much build up to Christmas, that it is in danger of being overtaken by present-buying, but it is certainly not forgotten. However, I sometimes find myself only really remembering that it is easter when i turn up at church on the sunday morning. But this year has been wonderfully different. Our short service on friday afternoon was a sober reminder of how foolish we humans can be. Jesus is being tried, knowing full well that he is about to face a horrific death, for the sake of the people he loves. While those people he loves are shouting 'Crucify him!'. But then, today we can celebrate that he rose again to life. He has conquered death and is now glorified with the Father. The scars are still visible, but they are no longer wounds. With his resurrection has come healing and reconciliation of God with us, his people.
"Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
