speed bumps

seriously, the excitement of the weekend has been 3 new speed bumps that are being built on the road to church. Speed bumps are a serious business here...nothing like the slight undulations you have in the UK. Speed bumps here generally have no advance warning and require you to almost stop to get over them to prevent your car falling apart. I have a theory that the mechanics keep building them so that the cars keep needing repaired.

Having said that, my wee Epi doesn't need speed bumps to break down. She does it all herself. I have become used to my wee car completely dying about every 2 months...which she duly did last week. Great i thought, that's that out the way for another couple of months. Until the engine literally died in the middle of the crossroads yesterday. The mechanic is still trying to revive her. She is becoming less cute and more annoying every day.

The actual event of the week was the Queen's birthday party at the British embassy on friday evening. It seems to be an expat tradition to celebrate her majesty's birthday when we didn't even know when it was when residing in the UK. It was a very fun night and hopefully i'll have uploaded the only photo of the night of myself Laurie and Kirsten.

I am off to Zanzibar next weekend for a week. So won't be any posting for the next couple of weeks but look forward to lots of photos of white sandy beaches that will make you soooo wish you were here ;)
