Zanzibar - amazing. many reasons.
the ocean is a great thing for clearing your head. you look at it and there is literally nothing in the view to confuse or disturb your thoughts.
Stonetown has so much culture and history in its buildings and the atmosphere. The streets are all narrow and windy with little restaurants and coffee houses round each corner.
the food was too much. too much good quality seafood when we have been starved of it in Kigali.
we found a really cute clothes shops which makes good quality clothes with african fabrics (www.kangakabisa.com) which i bought a few items from.
a different perspective. we met a few people along the way which helped to give life in kigali some perspective. In one direction, the complaints i have gotten into the habit of making about living here are really minuscule when compared to life in places not so far from here. but also there were reminders of things i miss from more developed countries...all of which are pretty insignificant materialistic things, but i do miss them.
an encouragement from Father that its okay that i make mistakes. I am His child and he is with me along the journey and the journey is there to teach me and nurture me...and the real surprise is that i am His child because he wants me to be, not because I deserve it.
as with any holiday, it is the going back to normal life which takes courage...wish me luck!
