so, not much new has been going on. Not that things are boring, far from it. I am enjoying the normalness of life.
Although, it really is the season for farewells at the moment. One good good friend was said goodbye to this week - i am really going to miss that one. And another is leaving next weekend. And another the week afterwards. And possibly another this month. And then the current ODIs will be gone in October.
i think you get the picture!
Actually, something relatively exciting did happen yesterday. Although the stream of celebrities that have been visiting Rwanda in the last year make it relatively unspectacular. We met Cindy McCain (wife of John McCain, republican candidate for presidency of USA) and Brian Fritzel (?? apparently is Senator of Tennesse). I think if i were american i would have gotten more excited. They are here as a group of senators from the US visiting Rwanda.
But the most exciting thing is that I will be in the UK in 25 days. I am looking forward to this and currently making a list of things to do while i'm there...
eat yoghurt (preferably a big biopot with wholegrains),
pay less that £5 for a packet of cereal,
sleep on a sprung mattress,
go to the hairdresser,
get checked out for worms/ameobas,
smile in lots of wedding photographs,
sit in lots of different coffee shops with lots of friends & family,
completely mis-dress for the weather,
eat bacon and chicken,
buy toiletries,
clothes shop like there is no tomorrow,
go on trains,
fall on/off an escalator (its been a while),
probably freak mum or dad out by driving on the wrong side of mar drive,
speak french to a waiter,
speak kinyarwanda to a waiter,
get very confused when it is light at 10pm,
watch tv,
feel rushed by the fast internet connection,
feel very unspecial because nobody will shout mzungu at me when walking down the street,
go to the cinema. lots.
wear socks,
enjoy wearing a big thick jumper,
hug lots of people very tightly,
be late for appointments,
use a debit card in a shop,
not sleep under a mosquito net,
drink fresh milk,
eat cheddar cheese,
wonder what the rush is when food comes within 30mins of ordering,
try to use an adaptor & surge protector to plug in my laptop,
sit in the car waiting for an attendant to fill the car with petrol,
be arrested for overuse of the horn when driving,
get stuck in the ticket gates on the London Underground.
