Merry Christmas!!

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows - light! sunbursts of light! You repopulated the nation, you expanded its joy. Oh, they're so glad in your presence! Festival joy!
The joy of a great celebration, sharing rich gifts and warm greetings.

Isaiah 9 (Message)

Celebrate, be joyful, be overflowing with joy - why? The light of the world, Jesus, has come to earth. God as man. GOD as MAN!!! and why would he come to earth? to bring light to us who live in darkness. I agree, it is a time to celebrate big time!

I am in the holiday mood. I have 2 weeks off work and lots of lovely people to celebrate with. Polly (flatmate from university) is arriving in, um, 9 hours for the holidays; i have good friends to celebrate Christmas in Kigali with; I'm helping with the music for Christmas eve/day; the Christmas tree went up in my little living room last night; we made some mince pies; i'm about to go and make Christmas cookies (american tradition?); we had Christmas carols at the British Embassy this week; plus i'm off to Kampala for New Years where there are cinemas; i'm taking Polly on safari for a couple of days. However, there are no cold winter evenings to snuggle round the fire, no cups of tea and mince pies with the family, and santa claus is black.

Its Christmas but a bit different.

But its the same celebration, its the same God and we've got turkey! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas - whether you are in South Carolina, London, Scotland, Hong Kong, Singapore. I pray you have a joyful holiday filled with a joy from the Lord.
